Christine Fortner works in watercolor and acrylic. She states, ‘I try to paint outside whenever possible to get the full impact of a location. The breeze, the bugs and the sounds of animals or people near by, all help to enhance the uniqueness of a certain area’. If weather or darkness prevent working in ‘plein air’ then she works in her Anchorage Studio.
Christine is an award winning watercolor
artist and an accomplished watercolor instructor. Her paintings
have been published in several books on Watercolor Painting.
Her work has also been featured in American Artist Watercolor
Magazine with Executive Editor Stanley Marcus stating
"Fortner's still life's are vibrant, complex paintings that
burst with color.... Her compositions, with their unusual
juxtapositions of shapes, reflections and lines function
as a whole."
Christine has taught watercolor workshops and classes through out the state for over 20 years. Her paintings are in the Permanent Collections of
the Anchorage Museum of History and Art and the Valley Regional
Hospital. She does corporate commissions, most recently
for Bailey's Furniture Store and KTUU TV.
