This painting is part of the 'Juneau Artist in Residence Series'. The mountain in the background was named after Dorothy and Ernest Gruening who enjoyed hiking it when the could. I liked the reflection of it in the calm lake. In fact the lake was a little too calm so I threw a rock into it for a photo and worked from that. There were photos on park sign posts of the Gruening children riding the salt chuck creek between the lake and ocean when the tide was right. What memories that family must have of their summers at their cabin. It was great that they donated their family cabin and surrounding land to the state to become a park.
